Create your own natural yeast with no nasties which can be used to make the best sourdough pizza, bread, crackers, crumpets and cake.

Method

Step 1

Grab yourself a Kilner jar and mix 4 ounces of bread flour and 4 ounces of water together. 

Step 2

Cover loosely with some cling film and leave to ferment. 

Step 3

Repeat this step over 5 days, around the same time of day (you are feeding your starter, so mix in 4 ounces of bread flour and 4 ounces of water, every day for 5 days - this will create a natural yeast).

Discard a little bit of your sourdough mixture every time you feed it, otherwise, you’ll end up with too much

You should end up with a lively and bubbling natural yeast - your own little jarred monster, which is ready to use.
