Electrolytes and Protein for Kids: When the Kids Bring the Riot, Bring Your WillPowders
Adulting with your little darlings in August? We get it: it’s 24/7.
Several weeks of ‘rest and relaxation’? Nah, letting the apples of your eye run feral has become your version of Forest School.
Worse still, making the mistake of venturing near any shop means they’ll start the never-ending nag for a sports or sugar-laden drink.

Make WillPowders protein milkshakes cool for growing bodies and brains
With a bit of judgement, a dash of measuring and some sensible decision making (well, you are the adult), you and your brood can keep cool, stay hydrated with electrolytes for kids and be nutrient dense with protein and full fat dairy for kids this summer. We also help you swerve those dreaded E numbers. At WP, we skip anything artificial.
Most importantly, the function’s disguised as fun in long, cool electrolyte drinks for kids, with a helping of protein for kids, too. You never know, with no hangry sugar slumps, everyone might get along for five minutes…

Can kids have protein powder? Yes!
But, when you mix a kids’ protein shake, you:
- Use your discretion for the tiddlers of the pack. For under 12s, it’s up to your motherly judgement. Some people mix the protein shake, split into three or four.
- For 12–16s you go half a protein sachet. To be fair, you tell them half a sachet, but they can shake it for themselves while you have a sit down!
When it comes to Protein Powder with Shilajit and Monocreatine, that’s just for you – those kids have got enough energy! Over 16s only here, kiddiewinkers!
Benefits of full fat milk, pasture-raised butter and bone broth’s complete protein for the kids
We all know they’re growing as fast as weeds and that takes amino acids and good fats!
Complete protein for growth:
- Bio-available amino acids: For all their muscle, bone and tissue growth needs.
- All nine essential amino acids the body can’t make on its own: Help them help their bodies do their thing.
- Amino acids that support neurotransmitter production: Happy hormones such as serotonin and sleep hormones like melatonin depend on a supply of tryptophan.
- Sweetened with stevia: Oral bacteria can’t metabolise stevia’s glycosides into enamel-eroding acids and helps to swerve demineralisation that leads to tooth decay.
Pasture-raised milk and butter:
- Vitamin K2: Calcium relies on vitamin K2 to deposit in those bones! Here’s to healthy bones and dental development.
- Butyric acid: Feeds the good bacteria in the colon, so you keep their microbiome happy. Happy tummies make happy mummies, right?
- Omega 3: Supports brain development, immunity, behaviour and mood, and heart and metabolic health. Now that’s a hard-working fat right there!
What’s their flavour of hydration and nourishment?
You know how it is: they’ll either have the same flavour year on year or they’ll want to shake it up daily. Luckily, no one ever said WillPowders doesn’t have range. Whatever the flavour, you’re getting protein for kids. Italian gelateries have nothing on us!
- Strawberry: A limited edition – catch it while you can (and tell us how much you like it – miracles do happen at HQ!)
- Vanilla: The meet-cute between Mr. Whippy and protein
- Milk Chocolate: It’s double award-winning, don’t you know?
- Chocolate Orange: Terry loves this one!

You’re a dab hand at mixing up a Protein Shake with full fat milk for yourself. It’s your go-to, sugar-free, artificial sweetener-free shake to beat anything in the chiller cabinet at the local shop.
WillPowders Protein Powders can also provide the sneaky protein nutrition your kids don’t know they need in a form they won’t give the side eye.
Do it slushie or ‘krushem’ style by adding crushed ice
Play Big Food at their own game, but play clean! Turn the shake into a slushie, a float or a ‘krushem’.
Slushie style:
Yup, sounds like hard work, but it’s not. Your kids’ll happily whizz the ice cubes and protein shake in a blender – supervised by you, obvs. You know kids love to press a button (or two)!
- Mum tip: Reduce the milk content slightly to accommodate the crushed ice. Oh, and remember to put the lid on the blender – no one wants to be up a ladder cleaning the ceiling in 30-degree heat.
Ice cream float style:
Add a scoop of our ice cream, such as Banana Protein Ice Cream or Cottage Cheese, Strawberry and Vanilla Ice Cream, to a glass of full fat milk.
- Mum tip: Count to ten if they insist on blowing bubbles down their straws.
Krushem style:
The high street adds chocolate bars and biscuits to skimmed milk and crushed ice. Dirty. You’ll keep it squeaky clean by rustling up a batch of Choccy Cookies or Chickpea Protein Cookies. Pop your full fat milk and ice in the blender with the cookies. Crushed it without the crash. They’ll be fuller for longer and so are more likely to bring their sunny dispositions with them, although we can’t cater for sibling squabbles. Sorry.
- Mum tip: Pop in a small scoop of protein powder to create flavour amp-ups and contrasts. Remember, the cookies have protein powder in too, so adjust accordingly. Use your discretion for under 12s. For example, use the small end of The Scoop, and make it just less than half a sachet for 12–16s.

Milk is full of electrolytes, but if they’re bored of moo juice, mix a fruity electrolyte drink for kids
Sodium from salt helps the body hold onto more water. On hot days, sodium is lost through sweat. The sports drinks at the local shop tend to come with side orders of sugar or artificial sweeteners, not to mention colourings not found in nature. Sucralose bloats little tummies. We can do better with our Citrus Berry Electrolyte Drink.
You could even make the recipe slushie style by freezing it in ice cubes and blending. Or freeze with a lolly stick in.
Your 12–16s can enjoy half an ElectroTide sachet. For your under 12s, we leave it up to your discretion.
