About
Open Accordion

The ingredients in our Thyroid Support have been specially selected to maximise your body’s capability to support a healthy thyroid gland.

An underperforming thyroid gland can cause hypothyroidism due to the lack of production of T3 and T4 hormones. Underactive thyroid symptoms include: low body temperature, cold sensitivity, depression, dry skin and hair, constipation, weight gain, loss of the outer third of eyebrows, sexual dysfunction

Our precursor is a combination of ingredients that promote thyroid function (Potassium iodine and Coleus Forskohlii) and support immune health to protect the thyroid.

Iodine (as Potassium iodine) is essential for the synthesis of thyroid hormones. Potassium iodide when taken as a supplement is therefore used to support thyroid function. Coleus Forskohlii activates enzymatic activity in the body. It promotes release of hormones from the pituitary gland, including the thyroid gland.

Selenium contributes to enzymatic processes in the body and may be important in the processing of consumed and exposed toxins. Zinc supports immune health. Gotu Kola can support age-related changes in mood and cognition. Calcium Pantothenate is a component of co-enzyme A, which is an essential enzyme for the metabolism of carbohydrate, fat and protein.

As iodine affects the thyroid gland, it can interfere with blood tests for thyroid function. Potassium iodide should be avoided in people with disorders of the thyroid or who are taking a medicine that affects thyroid function.

We recommend you have a blood test to confirm the status of your thyroid before embarking on this natural thyroid support precursor. See your GP or endocrinologist, alternatively get a test from Medicheck or another healthcare provider.

Hero Ingredients

  • Coleus Forskohlii (Forskolin)

Coleus Forskohlii activates enzymatic activity in the body. It promotes release of hormones from the pituitary gland, including the thyroid gland.

  • Calcium Pantothenate

Calcium Pantothenate is a component of co-enzyme A, which is an essential enzyme for the metabolism of carbohydrate, fat and protein.

  • Capsule Shell (HMPC)

The capsule shell is made from a polymer called HMPC (hydroxypropylmethylcellulose) derived from wood pulp.

  • Thiamine Mononitrate (Vitamin B1)

Thiamine is an essential coenzyme in the body, required for carbohydrate metabolism. It is important for the function of the central nervous system. It may improve cognitive performance and has therefore been investigated for its role in dementia.

  • N-Acetyl Cysteine

N-acetylcysteine is a precursor to l-cysteine, an essential amino acid for the synthesis of glutathione. Glutathione has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties in the body. It has been proposed for larger trials to examine its use in alcohol use disorders.

  • Pyridoxal 5 Phosphate (Vitamin B6)

Pyridoxal 5 Phosphate plays an important role in the metabolism of amino acids, fat and carbohydrate. It is essential for the formation of haemoglobin in the body. It may benefit symptoms of pre-menstrual syndrome and has been investigated for its effects on improving cognition. As it tends to be given with other B-vitamins in clinical studies, it is difficult to determine the effect of this vitamin alone.

  • Silicon Dioxide

Silicon Dioxide is used as an excipient to stop the powders clumping together (an anti-caking agent).

  • Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica)

Gotu Kola is a herbal medicine traditionally used for wound healing. It is also taken to support age-related changes in mood and cognition. It has been investigated for its sedative effects to aid sleep and reduce anxiety.

  • Selenium

Selenium is an essential trace element. It contributes to enzymatic processes in the body relating to glutathione and therefore has antioxidant properties. It may be important in the processing of consumed and exposed toxins. Selenium plays a role in immune health.

  • Retinol Acetate (Vitamin A)

Vitamin A is essential for growth and for vision (especially in dim light) and supports the immune system. Knowledge of its effects is largely from understanding what happens when someone has a deficiency.

  • Methylcobalamin (Vitamin B12)

Methylcobalamin (Vitamin B12) is a co-enzyme important in nucleic acid synthesis. It works with folic acid in several metabolic pathways in the body. It is important for immune function. There is evidence that Vitamin B supplements may be of some benefit in osteoarthritis, improving joint mobility and hand grip.

  • Potassium Iodide (Iodine)

Iodine is essential for the synthesis of thyroid hormones. Potassium iodide when taken as a supplement is therefore used to support thyroid function.

    What does the thyroid do?
    Open Accordion

It's a tiny, butterfly-shaped gland located right at the base of your neck, or just below your Adam's apple. Super small, super mighty!

Your thyroid is basically your body's master metabolism controller. It produces hormones (T3 and T4,) that tell practically every cell in your body how fast to work. Think of it as the thermostat for your entire internal engine, regulating everything from your energy levels and body temperature to your digestion and heart rate.

How do I know if I need Thyroid Support?
    Open Accordion

You may be suffering from low mood and poor concentration, have cold hands and feet, fibromyalgia, be hungry in the evenings despite eating a good meal, have compromised sleep (waking between 1–3am and having difficulty returning to sleep). Also, a particular indication is the loss of the outer third of your eyebrows.

    What is hypothyroidism?
    Open Accordion

Hypothyroidism is just the fancy medical term for an underactive thyroid. It simply means your thyroid gland isn't producing enough of those crucial hormones. When hormone levels dip, your body's processes slow down, and that's when things can start to feel a bit... off.
