WTF Diet

Been on and off a diet for most of your life? Spent the majority of your days yo-yoing, counting calories and depriving your body of what it truly wants and needs? Dreaded holidays and having to adorn a bikini? Worse still...lost weight so you could allow yourself a nice time? Spent your days feeling guilty for lifting fork to mouth and beating yourself up because you dared to sin, or eat chewable food instead of the tapping into the juice diet subscription you swore would be the one that worked? Been propelled into an energy-less, miserable shadow of your former self for the sake of dropping a couple of pounds, which you know, deep down, will ultimately creep back on when you fall of the diet wagon or until you get back on the next diet fad horse?

A WTF Diet?

  • Been on and off a diet for most of your life?
  • Spent the majority of your days yo-yoing, counting calories and depriving your body of what it truly wants and needs?
  • Dreaded holidays and having to adorn a bikini?
  • Worse still...lost weight so you could allow yourself a nice time?
  • Spent your days feeling guilty for lifting fork to mouth and beating yourself up because you dared to "sin", or eat chewable food instead of the tapping into the juice diet subscription you swore would be the one that worked?
  • Been propelled into an energy-less, miserable shadow of your former self for the sake of dropping a couple of pounds, which you know, deep down, will ultimately creep back on when you fall of the diet wagon or until you get back on the next diet fad horse?

Sound familiar?

Fad diets don't work!

WillPowders is here to protest the low fat summer diet culture that has had it claws in us all for too long.

Myths & Facts

Low-fat diets are always healthier.

Many low-fat foods are processed and high in sugar, which can lead to weight gain. Healthy fats from whole foods like avocados and nuts can aid in weight management and provide essential nutrients.

Cutting calories drastically is the best way to lose weight.

Extreme calorie restriction can slow metabolism and lead to muscle loss. Fuelling with good fats from sources like olive oil and fatty fish support metabolic health and sustain weight loss more effectively.

Low-fat diets are effective long-term.

Research shows that low-fat diets often lead to increased hunger and decreased satisfaction, making them harder to maintain. Healthy fats help keep you full and satisfied, making it easier to adhere to a weight loss plan.

All fats are bad for weight loss.

Unsaturated fats from sources like nuts, seeds, and fish support metabolism and help maintain muscle mass. Incorporating these good fats can improve overall health and make weight loss more sustainable.

Sick and Tired of Feeling Sick and Tired? #FFS

We're sick to death of diet companies (you know who they are) compromising your mental and physical health.

We're even more sick to death of BIG food lining supermarket shelves with highly inflammatory, gut destroying low fat, lab born fare.

It's time to get wise to the lies because fad diets and diet foods are damaging your health, hormones and longevity.

To learn how to eat for your whole body, our amazing founder, @Davinia Taylor has written an e-book 'It's Not a Summer Diet' as a sequel to her Number 1, Sunday Times Best-selling 'It's Not a Diet'. Both books shed a light on the lies we have all been told for too long and seek to educate its reader that deprivation is not the key to losing weight and finding optimum health.

WTF Diet FAQS

Will eating a high fat diet make me gain weight?

If you choose to fuel with fat, you need to choose good fats and keep them clean. A high fat diet needs to be in conjunction with limiting your carb intake. By reducing your carbs, your body will enter a state of ketosis. Ketones are the preferred fuel of your mitochondria, the part of cells that provide you with energy.

Will eating a high fat diet raise my cholesterol levels?

Not all cholesterol is created equal. Eating good fats may give your HDL cholesterol a nudge, but this is not a bad thing.

HDL helps remove other forms of cholesterol from your bloodstream, transporting it to the liver where it can be processed and eliminated from the body. Higher levels of HDL are associated with a lower risk of heart disease

WTF Diet Studies

Metabolism Slowdown

Severely restricting calories can lead to a decrease in metabolism. Studies show that low-calorie diets may reduce the number of calories the body burns by up to 23%. Even after stopping the diet, this lower metabolism can persist, contributing to weight regain1.

Satiety and Mental Health

Low-fat diets may not be as satiating, potentially leading to overconsumption of carbohydrates. Emerging evidence also suggests a negative impact on mental health4.

Hormonal Changes and Appetite

Research indicates that eating fewer calories can lead to hormonal changes that stimulate appetite. This can counteract the intended weight loss effects1.

Nutrient Deficiency

Some fad diets cut out entire food groups, which can lead to deficiencies in essential nutrients needed for good health1.

Long-term Ineffectiveness

Studies have shown that low-fat diets may not be as effective for long-term weight loss and health improvement compared to other dietary approaches. For example, a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine found that low-carb diets, which are higher in fat and protein, resulted in more significant weight loss and better improvements in certain health markers compared to low-fat diets

Health Risks

Fad diets can be harmful to your health, and there is no research proving they are safe in the long term3.
