Davinia Taylor's Futureproof Launch: A Night of Laughs, Wisdom, and Hope!

Davinia Taylor's Futureproof Launch: A Night of Laughs, Wisdom, and Hope!

The air was electric, thick with anticipation (and a faint whiff of Will-Powder) as a packed house gathered for the launch of Davinia’s third literary masterpiece, Futureproof. Taking the stage as the evening’s host was none other than former Hollyoaks star and all-round wellness guru, Gemma Atkinson.

Gemma kicked off the proceedings with a whirlwind introduction, painting a vivid picture of Davinia – two-time Sunday Times bestselling author, founder of the universally adored WillPowders, and a woman on a mission. A mission to cut through the “sh*t” of the health world and offer real, road-tested solutions. In a world where low-fat and counting calories often means inflamed and miserable, Davinia is the straight-talking, hilarious antidote, driving a nutrient-dense way forward.

With a roar of applause, Davinia bounced onto the stage, with an armoury of wisdom, biohacks, and an audience eager to hear her speak.

From rock bottom to bestseller …

“Your third book is finally here, it’s absolutely amazing! How are you feeling?” Gemma asked.

“Amazing, excited, proud, grateful…” A sentiment that she echoed throughout the night, thanking her tribe for their support and for standing by her side as she ventures to change the wellness landscape.

Davinia shared her remarkable story, a story many were familiar with, but which always acts as a reminder that anything is possible and everything is changeable. Davinia, with her signature candour, condensed a decade of transformation into a few poignant bullet points. We’re talking alcohol addiction, sugar addiction, mental health struggles, and the overwhelming weight of feeling utterly powerless.

She recounted the turning point: the soul-crushing realisation that all the fad diets and “bullshit health messaging” were making things worse. Enter bio-hacking, and the rest, as they say, is history. Four stone lighter, a booming business, two bestsellers, and now, Futureproof.

Gemma, clearly inspired, highlighted Davinia's knack for being refreshingly un-preachy.

“Because I’m a real person talking to real people. No medical degree, just an insatiable appetite for research, studies, and science, fuelled by a neurospicy brain.” Her job, she declared, was to “take all that complex info and translate it into hacks that all of us can use no matter how much money, time, resources you’ve got.”

Ageing: Not just about wrinkles (but also about wrinkles) …

This led seamlessly to Futureproof, the book everyone was buzzing about. Davinia’s motivation for tackling ageing and longevity?

“Purely selfish, in the best possible way. Everyone around me seems to be so scared of ageing. Hands up in the audience if you worry about getting old?” A forest of hands shot up.

“We all have the same pictures in our heads of dementia, cancer, incontinence, you name it,” she lamented, before adding, “but it doesn’t have to be that way.”

Davinia’s research had unearthed a treasure trove of information on insulin resistance, cholesterol, inflammation, hormones, and mobility – easily digestible hacks for the average Joe (and Jane). And personally, she explains “I don’t want to miss out on precious time with my boys”, a sentiment that resonated deeply.

“What can we expect from Futureproof?”

“Learn how to tackle inflammation, build muscle, eat more protein, get mobile, and manage stress.”

When pushed to pick the most important, Davinia declared without hesitation: “Lowering inflammation! It’s linked to all the hallmarks of ageing and the biggest killer diseases.” In true Davinia style, she did not leave the audience hanging, instead offering simple solutions to battle the fire immediately: “intermittent fasting, a keto diet, avoid nasty seed oils, and for the love of all that is holy, read ingredients lists in the supermarket!” Her book, Futureproof, she promised, had the lowdown on what to watch out for.

“This is what we love about you! Taking something that can sound so scary and making it simple.” Gemma gushed.

With a shrug, “Ageing shouldn’t be scary, it should be embraced. We’re bloody lucky to be here!”

The shrinking skull & the collagen crusade

The conversation then gracefully segued into aesthetics, a topic close to many a heart (and mirror). Davinia, ever the pioneer, shared her journey of ditching "tweakments" in favour of more holistic approaches. Her "filler story" elicited knowing nods and a few guilty giggles. “No shame – do what you’ve got to do,” she conceded, before proudly showcasing her current regimen: The power of collagen.

“We’re all so obsessed with what’s on the surface, we forget about the bone structure underneath that is doing all the heavy lifting. Our skulls are actually shrinking with age which contributes to the sag!”

Davinia painted a stark picture of osteoporosis and the grim statistics of falls in older people. Her advice? “Walking and jogging aren’t enough. We need to be lifting weights and fuelling right! Not only does lifting lean you out but it also revs up your metabolism, turning you into a fat-burning furnace. It’s a superhero against insulin resistance. Who can argue with that?”

A day in the life of a futureproofed goddess…

Naturally, everyone was dying to know Davinia’s personal routine. She laughed, admitting “Every day is different depending on what I’ve got on and what mood I wake up in.” Thankfully, Futureproof has daily plans based on mood, a godsend for those of us who wake up feeling like sh*t. She rattled off a "standard day," including her wind-down routine. The emphasis on reducing stress in the evening was clear, and frankly, a home sauna sounded less like a luxury and more like a necessity.

Over to the audience…

After a brief interval, Gemma invited questions from the audience and they were geared and ready to pick Davinia’s brains.

One woman crediting Davinia for her ADHD diagnosis asked how to banish the dread.

“Connection is so important. Share your feelings, even when you don’t want to. Moan. It’s cathartic. Human connection is the biggest pain killer and why I set up the FFS Facebook group. Plus, L-theanine and collagen are your anxiety-quashing best friends.”

On HRT vs. biohacking, Davinia was nuanced. “I’m not against HRT, but I believe in a more bespoke approach. Why is the NHS not offering more detailed hormone tests? Give women the tech so they can be their own N of 1."

Another woman, beaming, shared her 3.5-stone weight loss on Mounjaro and asked what to buy from WillPowders. Davinia, ever practical, advised supporting the journey with MCT Oil, collagen, and keto powder, emphasising protein, collagen, resistance training for muscle mass and bone density.

“When are you bringing out a gravy, and what can you develop to reach teenagers?” An audience member hollered. With a mischievous glint, Davinia blamed the “psychos” in the food industry for setting us and our kids up to fail. “But the idea of a Bisto and the kids' podcast - what a great idea - I’ll talk to the team”, she promised.

A powerful moment came from a woman diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer, who credited Davinia’s advice and products for her recovery, astonishing her consultants. She stood strong, just three weeks post-hysterectomy, a testament to Davinia's impact and the WillPowders range.

“Tell us about the branding - why so bonkers?” Another asked.“I hate those worthy wellness brands so I thought f*ck it – let’s just go full acid house.” A sentiment we can all get behind.

A gush of thanks!

The evening wrapped up with a heartfelt thank you from Gemma to the audience, WillPowders, and, of course, Davinia. Davinia’s final words were a sincere thank you to her tribe, reminding everyone, "I wouldn’t have any of this if it wasn’t for you." The audience dispersed, armed with new knowledge, a gorgeous goody bag, and a renewed sense of humour about the ageing process.

Davinia Taylor, you’ve done it again!
